A message from the Founder

Laurie
Duncan
As the owner and founder, I'm responsible for all company care services and our consultations on care options and costs. In 1976 I received a Master's in Health Care Administration from George Washington University and am a Certified Public Accountant.

My nursing home administrator's license qualified me to operate a nursing home, a rehabilitation agency and a retirement community - jobs which provided me an inside view of long term care.

It has been a privilege to work with seniors for nearly three decades, learning from them through their humor and their wisdom. It is also gratifying to work with attentive, dynamic colleagues who share my commitment to our mission:

Helping older adults manage their independence.

How We Work with Clients -- An Example
Mrs. C. asked us to help her with bill paying. After three years of seeing her every 2-3 weeks, her family asked us to arrange for personal caregivers in her home.

Even though we had a long-term relationship, we made a new assessment and updated our plan of care. Later we oriented the caregiver and provided employee supervision.

When costs escalated and living alone became unsafe, we introduced Mrs. C. to several assisted living facilities. The decision to move was a process - we presented summaries of each facility, served as a sounding board and expedited making a choice.

What was the outcome? Here is part of a letter we received from her granddaughter...

". . . thank you for providing my grandmother & family with support & professional guidance. Without your assistance, my grandmother's move from her home to assisted living would not have happened in the needed hour."
